Leave well enough alone :
To leave something alone; to avoid attempts to correct, fix, or improve what is already sufficient.
Example : We should have left well enough alone when we had it working the first time.
Try to google it next time :oui:

Let's bring this topic back to life and see if I can make three correct sentences in a row. It's a tough challenge for me, but I will make it. I believe in myself.
Okay, that's three sentences.
There's a capital letter missing in the title. :hap: Hint: my post.

@Duplucky There is no space before a question mark (actually before any ending punctuation) in English. Stop doing that mistake :R
Also I cannot make sense of my previous answers on this topic, so if anyone has any memory about that, that would be cool.
Besides, as an admin, I proclaim the MyLife to be entirely in English from now on, so you can migrate there if you want.
I don't know anymore. I learned at school some rules about the punctuation and after that, I learned that they were totally false because the rule was simply if a ponctuation mark is formed of two characters, it's mean that you have to put a space before and after this pinctuation mark.
So are you telling me this is wrong too ? So what's the real rules about punctuation ? I don't know, I will never know, I will become crazy, AAAAAARGH !!!! :nain:

This is the case in French. But in English, there is no space in this case v.v
Most people in my class still put that extra space before the question mark. And I'm an english major.
I didn't know either, it's the first time I hear that. Maybe it's because this rule only apply to typed out text and not to manuscript text?
@Duplucky I don't know where you've read/heard that, but it's quite easy to verify. Just open any book or article in English and check how the punctuation marks are done. There is no need to become crazy about such a simple rule.
@Sentinelle How do you know that? I've a Bachelor in English literature and I would be unable to say with certainty what were common mistakes among my fellow students v.v The only thing I know is that Word or Grammarly, by default, consider the space before the punctuation mark as a mistake, and both highlight it. Since most students (afaik) write their essays with those, I would assume this mistake has become pretty unusual by now.

I meant to say that it's a common mistake, not that they're dumb or anything, by the way.
A teacher said it in class and people were shocked to learn that you don't put a space before the question mark, so it's safe to assume that it's not something most people know.
Even if you read english texts everyday, you don't necessarily pick up on the fact that the punctuation is different, I still see the mistake all the time on my classmates' word files, which is honestly not that big of a deal.

Tbf it kind of is, if you want to do a Master (or more) in English I cannot imagine a world in which it is not considered as some kind of amateurism (if you write papers for ex). I mean, if you have a degree in English, that is the kind of stuff you should know.
But yeah, for everyday life, no one cares. And yes, there is no link whatsoever between that mistake and stupidity.
